We have quarterly check-ins with managers to discuss progress, areas which we are interested in exploring and we also set personal development goals which are frequently reviewed. Being a grad has been helpful as many people are so willing to sit with you and explain a new business area to you which you had no previous idea about. It’s encouraged to spend some time shadowing other teams as you may teach them something new with a fresh perspective on top of what you will gain with them. Career development is well supported at LBG and there’s loads of initiatives advertised internally to support this

Lloyds invest a lot of time and resources into the graduates to start with. For the Corporate Banking and Markets scheme, you can undergo a qualification such as the CFA, CIMA, Corporate treasury. You wi be able to get involved in a variety of projects and schemes that get emailed to you, through your grad scheme leads, your manager and the wider Lloyds community. This includes volunteering , being part of the Women in Finance group, being part of the women’s group. There are plenty of opportunities to network too. If there is anything that you are interested in, you can speak to your manager/ talent reps that can direct you to the right place. There are many training sessions along the way that will aide you in your journey with Lloyds (financial analysis, personal development, business acumen).

Thank you both for your responses. I am impressed by the variety of support you have both had the chance to receive. I am particularly impressed by the wider initiatives and groups LBG runs alongside the graduate schemes. Did you find that these training sessions and groups improved your own work, and understanding of your job role?

I’d say so yes! I’m on the CIB scheme, currently in my risk rotation and without the training sessions and groups, I would have very little idea on how to do my role. The support received in the team has been great, and everyone has been understanding that I have no previous experience with credit, and I’ve been signposted to loads of different perils and resources which has helped me understand my current role massively

I agree with Xian, the training is essential to coming up to speed with the requirements of the roles and allows you to have a basis for building on your learning.
