Hi Alfie, if you mean technical knowledge that you should know prior to interviews/joining, then the answer is none at all! There is absolutely zero expectations of technical knowledge from grads as you will be giving training from the start of your grad scheme. You will also be given more specific training when you join certain teams i..e if you join a debt team you will be given financial modelling training
I myself joined the bank with virtually no technical skills, but due to great support and training, I have really been able to develop these skills in the past year and a bit. Hope this helps!

Thank you Parsia. Could you please give insight into what the Corporate Banking & Markets division does? Does your division do traditional corporate banking activities such as provide loans etc.?

Hi Alfie, yes we are a traditional Corporate bank. We have coverage teams that are client facing and will maintain relationships with our clients and explore do origination work (i.e. pitching to new clients to grow the book). All the coverage teams are split in sectors i.e. manufacturing, real estate, consumer and tech.
We then have product specialist teams such as the corporate and institutional debt team who originate, structure, and execute corporate loans.
There are also other parts of the corporate bank such as Structured Finance and Syndicate (examples of some teams here is leveraged finance and capital structure advisory).
