Hello! Lovely to hear from you. As an ex-teacher, I can say that you will have lots of skills that are transferable (probably more than you know you have!) The main difference I've experienced since transitioning from education is having much more ownership of your own time - something that I really like!

Here’s a thoughtful and appreciative way to respond:

Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words. It’s reassuring to hear that there are so many transferable skills from teaching. I’m also looking forward to having more ownership of my time which sounds like such a positive change! If you have any tips or advice about navigating the transition, I’d love to hear them.

Sounds like a small thing but make sure you take regular breaks away from the screen to move. My new role is a lot less physically demanding than teaching and I need to purposefully schedule in time away from the screen to walk. On the other hand, you most often finish on time (unlike in teaching!!) so you can spend time outside and doing things you enjoy and stay active that way.

I've found using outlook calendar to 'add new appointment' just to make a note of what I need to do really useful to help with managing own time and remembering to do a range of different things.

Hope this helps!
