What would a typical day look like for a financial services professional apprentice?

Hi Destiny,

As someone currently on the Financial Services Professional Apprenticeship scheme, I believe I’m in a good position to answer this!

This will vary depending on the type of team you start in, for example I started in an analytical commercial banking role whilst others on my course started in a product or relationship management team.

As mentioned previously it will vary on the role, as a general role you will be learning from others in the team that have a great deal of experience in those roles. You will also have an educational aspect that you will be given time to study for during the week.

Thank you for the reply. You said you switched between roles, would I be able to switch roles during my apprenticeship if I felt my skillset matched a different department better?

Hi Destiny,

I’ve found that Lloyds are very flexible with this, I personally requested a switch to a client facing role as I wanted to learn more in this area and found it more of an interest. The business had no issues honouring this however, it would depend on business needs at the time.

I wouldn’t worry about this as the apprenticeship team can also support with switching of areas.
