Additional information

The Data Science and Analytics job posting states that coding experience is not essential, though beneficial. I have experience with data analysis in R, and basic experience in Python. I have not been able to find out whether the assessments for this programme include coding assessments that require prior knowledge. The website implies there should not be, but other sources and previous years indicate that there are. As well as this, the early careers page does not link to a valid example of the coding assessment. So, do I need to utilise pre-existing programming knowledge to apply for the Data Science and Analytics programme? If it does, then I would prefer to apply for Data Management and Strategy. Thanks

Hi Felix - For the Data Science scheme, you will need a strong understanding of Python coding techniques, and a high mathematical ability to analyse data and statistics using methods like modelling and probabilities.

We would also expect applicants to be familiar with applying methodologies such as Logistic Regression, Random Forests, SVM, xGBoost and Time-Series Modelling.

At the Technical Test stage, you will be asked to complete assessments which include basic use of Python and SQL – I would recommend taking the practice tests to see if you have the relevant technical skills for the Data Science & Analytics scheme. Good Luck on your application!

Thank you. I recommend updating your job postings to reflect this fact, as it is quite misleading. What are the requirements for the Data Management and Strategy scheme?
