What do you like about your job and the company?
I have always had roles in customer facing teams which has allowed me to be closer to the customer and make a real difference to them or their businesses. Being a people manager gave me the opportunity to help individuals grow by motivating, supporting and developing them. Seeing colleagues flourish and progress in their careers is very fulfilling.
Greatest achievements
I carried out listening sessions alongside my colleague Oliede Usher with Ethnic Minority colleagues to understand the barriers they face when it comes to career progression. From the feedback of these sessions a pilot, Mentoring Programme has been launched in BCB for colleagues from an Ethnic Minority which will help them to secure a mentor and also provide them with the skills to help them with career progression.

I always think that most of the time we create our own insecurity. For example, ff you ever feel like you have impostor syndrome, just ask yourself, what are the odds of you really being here by mistake? Of everyone else being much better than you? They're always low and they're is always going to be someone else in a similar situation to you. As another example, if you apply for a job and get a rejection, where only 5% of applicants pass, there is no reason to bring yourself down, 95% of people will be in your same situation. The odds of passing were low but the only way to beat those odds is trying again, and 5% is much better than 0. Many use realism to be negative but I believe it is the best way to have a positive attitude and keep going!

The graduate application journey can be incredibly challenging. However, what truly pushes us forward is our commitment to our goals and the perseverance to overcome obstacles that ultimately shape our success. My most important piece of advice is as follows: Your past is important but it’s your unwavering commitment to your dreams and the determination to overcome challenges and failures that will lead you to the remarkable destinations you aspire to reach. “It doesn’t matter where you are coming from, all that matters is where you are going.”

My top three tips would be: - Embrace new opportunities and experiences. You never know what you might learn or discover from venturing into the unknown or challenging yourself. Be ready to adapt and grow from different situations and perspectives. - Cultivate curiosity and eagerness to learn. Demonstrating that you can acquire new knowledge and skills in diverse domains and apply them effectively in your work will make you stand out. Seek feedback and guidance from others and always look for ways to improve yourself. - Take initiative and collaborate with others. Keep your eye out for interesting opportunities and be open to asking - asking questions, asking for support, asking for new opportunities. Show that you can work well with others and contribute to projects. Build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and develop as a respected subject matter expert.
