Hello, Kitty. So, the first placement for us is more about understanding the bank in general rather than using some specific technologies. However, I have been learning a lot about new technologies like public cloud, event driven architecture, containerisation, new database technologies etc.
The bank utilises some old technologies as well (for their purposes some of them work really well). We still have some mainframe computers and use relational databases. In essence, you can find variety of technologies used in the bank.

Thanks! It sounds like there's a real range. And good to know that the first placement is more about understanding the bank in general. Is that the same for everyone on the grad scheme?

Yes, it was the same for everyone in our cohort.

Hi Kitty! Yes, exactly - in our cohort we were all assigned to the CTO (Chief Technology Office) for our first placement so that we could get to know the Bank from a common starting place. This might change for you, but you can be sure that you'll be given ample opportunity to get to understand the Group (it's huge!)
